Berlin (dpa / bb) - More than a thousand people protested on Tuesday evening against the planned evacuation of the left-wing neighborhood bar "Meuterei" in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
The demonstration started around 6.45 p.m. near the pub on Reichenberger Strasse in Kreuzberg and then passed through Friedrichshain.
The mood of the participants from the left and radical left scene was aggressive, loud chants against capitalism and the police could be heard, as a dpa reporter reported.
Firecrackers exploded again and again, participants shot rockets and lit Bengali fire.
"We are ungovernable," read a large banner.
Other banners demanded "hands off the Rigaer".
The predominantly young and black-clad demonstrators wanted to walk past the occupied house «Rigaer 94».
The police were represented with a larger contingent, police officers with helmets escorted the elevator on both sides.
The “Meuterei” bar, whose lease has expired, is due to be vacated at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday morning.
