Potsdam (dpa / bb) - The Corona “emergency brake” due to increasing numbers of infections is causing stricter restrictions in six districts and one city in Brandenburg.

According to Elbe-Elster, Oberspreewald-Lausitz, Oberhavel, Oder-Spree and Spree-Neiße as well as the city of Cottbus, the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week in the Teltow-Fläming district was over 100 on three days in a row, as was the case with the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday.

The value fell below the mark on Saturday.

In Märkisch-Oderland, the threshold has so far been exceeded on two days in a row.

The nationwide hotspot is still Elbe-Elster with 232, it is the only district with a value over 200. In the whole of Brandenburg, the value is still over 100 at just under 114. Eleven deaths related to Covid-19 were recently added.

Brandenburg had tightened the Corona regulation in the past week so that the "emergency brake" in the districts with the withdrawal of the easing of March 8th already applies from a 7-day incidence from 100 and not from 200.

The 200 mark had caused criticism.

This means that stricter contact requirements apply in the districts concerned and in the city of Cottbus: Only one household and one other person are allowed to meet.

Shops and museums can no longer be visited by appointment, but supermarkets, pharmacies, drugstores and other shops for daily needs remain open.

The heads of government of the federal and state levels agreed on Tuesday night that the “emergency brake” would remain in place on three consecutive days with a 7-day incidence in a state or region over 100.

However, tougher measures should then take effect - for example exit restrictions, stricter contact restrictions, a mask requirement for passengers in the car who do not belong to their own household and an extended requirement for the corona rapid test, where distance rules and consistent wearing of a mask are more difficult.
