The fight against Covid-19 could accelerate if the government keeps its promises.

The 35 large centers which should make it possible to massively vaccinate the French against Covid-19 "will be operational in the coming days", announced Tuesday March 23 the Minister Delegate in charge of Industry Agnès Pannier-Runacher.

"We are working with local elected officials to put them in place," she said on BFMTV.

France has "completed the vaccination phase in nursing homes", which was "a bit complex", explained the minister.

Now, "we have an acceleration of the delivery of the number of doses and therefore we can move on to a second phase of more massive vaccination".

The government assured Monday that it wanted to open large centers "to massively vaccinate the French" from April.

Still, he initially dismissed the idea of using large centers, associated with the failed H1N1 flu shot campaign.

Difficulty of getting around for the most fragile

Questioned by France 24, some local elected officials remain skeptical.

Thus Azzédine Taïb, the mayor of the town of Satins located in Seine-Saint-Denis, one of the most affected departments, believes that the installation of a vaccinodrome at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, several kilometers from his city, will not solve the heart of the problem: "We have in Seine-Saint-Denis many fragile people for whom it is difficult to travel to be vaccinated, even in the nearby towns. In addition, the feeling of mistrust remains strong vis-à-vis vaccines and proximity centers have an essential role to play that cannot be overcome by a regional center. In my opinion, the current health strategy is not suited to our situation. "

For now, and after the interruption of the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine for a few days last week, France has more than 6.35 million people who have received at least one dose of vaccine, including nearly 2 , 5 million vaccinated with two doses.

The government is still counting on 10 million first doses injected in mid-April.

"It will clearly be BioNTech / Pfizer that will deliver the highest number of doses in the coming weeks," she said, highlighting the supply problems for AstraZeneca's vaccine.
