Google has confirmed that there is a problem that causes many Android applications to crash in the past few hours, with the applications showing warning messages saying "Continue to close" when users try to open them.

Google said that the cause of the problem is a system component called "Android System WebView", which allows Android applications to display web content.

The fix of the problem requires updating the "Android System Web View" system to version (89.0.4389.105), and updating the "Google Chrome" browser to the latest version, both of which are available on the "Google Play" store.

The problems started Monday afternoon, lasted about 7 hours, and the company recommended using the desktop interface until the issues were resolved.

"We are aware of a problem in Webview that causes some applications to crash on Android for some users," Google said in a statement to The Verge, adding, "We are currently working on verifying the domain completely, and the fix is currently being done." .

Some users said that removing the latest Web View update solved the problem, and in fact, the Samsung Support Twitter account in the US recommended that they take this step.

Hi!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Please remove the Webview Update and then restart the phone.

Here are the steps: Go settings> apps> tap the three dots in the top right corner> show system apps> Search for Android System WebView> select Uninstall updates.

If you are affected by the problem, open the Google Store, search for "Android Web View", and uninstall updates. You can also go to "Applications" from your device settings, find the "Web View" application among the system applications, and uninstall its latest updates.
