Until March 26, the French army mobilizes nearly 260 cyber-combatants to carry out a large-scale military exercise in the cybernetic space.
The objective of these great maneuvers of which this is the eighth edition, is to counter all types of computer attacks perpetrated by "
groups of a state nature, very sophisticated

It is the hour of great maneuvers for the digital soldiers who, on the front line, are responsible for countering the computer attacks that are proliferating in this period of pandemic.
A worrying phenomenon which however makes it possible to test a set of countermeasures throughout this exercise called Defnet meaning Defense network, and which required a year of preparation.
# DEFNET2021: the specialized centers of the GCA actively participate in the exercise.
Although complementary, they each have their missions: discover them with Hugo for CALID, Alex for CASSI, and ADJ SĂ©bastien for CRPOC.

"
The
cyber defense
,
says General Didier Tisseyre, general officer commanding of cyber defense at the Department of Hosts.
These are all the measures that will allow you to detect an attack and then be able to react to it.
For me, Cyber Defense Commander, I clearly identify an enemy who has planned an operation and is carrying it out as it goes, possibly attacking several systems in parallel.
These hundreds of cyber-fighters that I have the pleasure and the honor to command, to lead, are there to protect our systems, in the broadest sense possible, that is to say networks but also systems of highly digitized weapons or even digitized industrial systems called "SCADA".
We need to understand all of this so that the army system is digitally resilient and can continue to carry out its operational missions and its day-to-day functioning.
"
The whole panoply of cyberattacks
Ransomware, phishing, intrusion into databases, recovery of personal information ... The almost complete panoply of cyber attacks will be launched during this life-size exercise.
In all, 388 computer incidents were planned, and some of these attacks are far from being completely fictitious, such as those involving the blocking of weapons systems on ships deployed at sea, for example forcing frigates to be brought back to the most short deadlines at the quayside for emergency interventions.

This vast exercise, organized for the first time since Rennes, mobilizes nearly 260 cyber-combatants;
it has the ambition to also arouse vocations.
14 higher schools in the West and Ile-de-France are associated with these major cyber defense maneuvers.
And as provided for in the 2019-2025 military programming law, the army is targeting the recruitment of more than 1,000 new cyber-combatants and the State has decided to invest 1 billion 600 million euros for the "
l
utte in cyberspace
”.
Without forgetting also that the best defense in the cyber world is sometimes the attack, France also puts to the test during these major digital maneuvers its new cyber-offensive systems which allow our armed forces engaged in the various theaters of military operations, to facilitate their security.
