Munich / Pöcking (dpa) - Almost a year ago, the defendant was sentenced to five and a half years in prison for driving a car to a group of people in Pöcking, Upper Bavaria.
He was accused of fivefold attempted murder, he has now been convicted of dangerous bodily harm, deliberate dangerous interference in traffic and hit-and-run in the Munich II district court.
The public prosecutor's office accused him of driving into a group of people in May of last year to kill his then partner and their one-year-old daughter, who called him "Papa".
He is said to have driven towards her in a targeted manner at around 50 kilometers per hour.
The motive: His partner is said to have aborted a child against his will.
Four adults were slightly to moderately injured in the act, and the toddler suffered a shock.
The 23-year-old ex-girlfriend of the man claims to have suffered from 20 percent hearing loss on one side since the act, is receiving psychological treatment and is still receiving physiotherapy.
The driver himself had to be treated in the clinic after he hit a tree with his car while on the run - "with suicidal intent," as his lawyer said at the beginning of the trial.

The German was charged not only with attempted murder, but also with dangerous bodily harm, willful dangerous interference in road traffic, property damage and hit-and-run.
The public prosecutor's office had already withdrawn the allegation of attempted murder in the closing argument and demanded ten years in prison.
The defense called for two years probation - the court now stayed between the two claims.
