Reutlingen / Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Environment Minister Franz Untersteller (Greens) will leave office after this legislative period and will become the leading representative of the global climate protection alliance “Under2 Coalition”.

"I'm going to be an ambassador and I'm looking forward to my new role, in which I can get even more people around the world excited about climate protection issues at the regional level," says Untersteller to the Reutlinger General-Anzeiger.

The Green politician is now responsible for representing the organization externally together with former California Governor Jerry Brown and will take part in important global climate events.

The activity is voluntary.

The state of Baden-Württemberg also belongs to the organization.

The aim of the climate alliance is to limit the average temperature to at least below two degrees, better still 1.5 degrees.
