Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The entrepreneurship in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has reacted with sharp criticism to the renewed extension of the lockdown and the lack of opening perspectives for the hospitality industry.

“When will the governments finally act strategically and with foresight?” Asked the managing director of the VU business association, Sven Müller, on Tuesday in Schwerin.

The resolutions of the latest Prime Minister's Conference would raise more questions than provide answers.

It is unclear what the “forced closure” on Maundy Thursday means for the companies and who is responsible for the loss of sales, said Müller.

Sectors particularly affected by the lockdown, such as tourism, restaurants and events, were in the dark when it came to the promised additional help, complained Müller.

The opposition FDP criticized the continued low vaccination rate and inadequate preparation of the corona rapid tests, which contributed to the increase in the number of infections.

"The results of the MPK throw Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania back into a strict lockdown and destroy the tentative attempts to open it," stated the FDP state chairman René Domke.

According to the federal-state resolution, the corona restrictions are to be extended until April 18.

Accordingly, a maximum of five people from two households are still allowed to meet, children up to 14 years are not counted.

No relaxation of the contact restrictions is planned for the Easter days.

Instead, public, economic and private life is expected to be largely shut down from April 1 to April 5 inclusive in order to break the third wave of the pandemic.

An attempt by the northerners to re-allow tourist travel within a federal state to a limited extent did not find a majority.
