As of Saturday, French people over the age of 70 without comorbidities will be able to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

A national telephone number will be put into service to allow them to make an appointment at the vaccination centers.

Emmanuel Macron maintains the target of 10 million French people vaccinated in mid-April.

Vaccination is a "speed race", the President of the Republic said on Tuesday.

And it is time, according to him, to get up to speed.

The campaign will be extended to people aged 70 to 75 without comorbidity from Saturday, announced Emmanuel Macron during a visit to a vaccination center in Valenciennes, in the North.

Or some 3 million additional French people to receive an injection.

But that requires a bit of organization, as Europe 1 explains to you.

People over 75 remain a priority

To facilitate logistics, a national telephone number will be set up.

It will allow French people to make an appointment in vaccination centers, where they will receive a dose of Pfizer or Moderna.

GPs for their part continue to inject the AstraZeneca vaccine.

However, those over 75 remain a priority.

So far, one in two people over 75 has already received at least one dose.

To reach the remaining 50%, the Health Insurance will launch a telephone campaign to encourage them to be vaccinated.

Objective: 10 million French people vaccinated in mid-April

If the government now intends to accelerate, it is because it knows that for the month of April alone, France will receive more than 13 million doses, or as many as in February and March combined.

Emmanuel Macron has also reaffirmed "the objective of having vaccinated 10 million people in mid-April".

This will allow, he promises, "to protect the most fragile, the oldest or people who have diabetes or are obese", and thus "reduce the pressure on the hospital system".

But more staff will also be needed to vaccinate faster.

The executive is counting in particular on the army and the firefighters to vaccinate more French people in the vaccinodromes.
