Hamburg (dpa / bb) - The basketball players from Alba Berlin have conceded their fourth defeat in their 24th Bundesliga game.

On Tuesday evening, the team of coach Aito Garcia Reneses lost at the Hamburg Towers with 75:90 (49:50).

The decisive factor was that the Berlin team around top scorer Niels Giffey (16 points) could not defensively control the north German hosts in the catch-up game on the eighth match day for long stretches.

At the beginning, the game between the German champions and cup winners from Berlin and the newcomer of the year 2019 was a balanced one.

Both the Berliners, who had to do without the injured Maodo Lo and the briefly ill Peyton Siva, and the Towers shone with strong throwing rates and a good offensive.

So it was at half-time 49:50 from Berlin's point of view.

In the second half, Hamburg dominated the game.

Led by the top scorers Kameron Taylor and Terry Allen (21 points each), who were also good from a distance, they managed to pull away bit by bit.

The Berliners, on the other hand, got problems both offensively and defensively and sometimes seemed a bit tired and lacking in ideas.

The result was only 14 points scored in the third quarter and a 64:70 deficit.

And even in the final quarter, Alba was no longer able to improve decisively offensively.

Because the Hamburgers continued to play off their attacks just as well as they concluded with certainty, the Berliners could no longer make a decisive contribution.
