Al-Jazeera correspondent said that Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz called for urgent security consultations after a missile from the Gaza Strip fell on the city of Beersheba, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was present.

A journalist in the official Israeli Broadcasting Corporation "Kan" published a video clip showing Netanyahu leaving a restaurant in Beersheba during an election tour, but he indicated that the missile strike followed Netanyahu's exit from the restaurant.

The Israeli army announced this evening, Tuesday, that it had detected one missile fired from the Gaza Strip, and said that it fell in an open space near the city of Beersheba in the heart of the Negev desert, in the southern region.

The Al-Jazeera correspondent said that the aforementioned missile is one of the medium-range missiles owned by the Palestinian resistance and capable of reaching targets in Israel with a depth of 40 km.

There were no immediate reports of casualties from the missile, the first to be fired from Gaza since January.

Israel sounded sirens in the area upon its fall.

These developments came on the day of the Israeli elections, the fourth elections held by Israel in two years.
