Schwerin / Berlin (dpa) - The Ludwigslust state parliament member Maika Friemann-Jennert (CDU) wants to take over the Bundestag mandate from the CDU member Karin Strenz, who died surprisingly.

"It will be a very great honor for me to belong to the Bundestag," said the 56-year-old, who can move up according to her place on the list, on Tuesday of the German press agency.

Even if it is only for a short time.

The formal letter is still pending.

She also wants to occupy the committees in which Strenz was active, including the Defense Committee.

Friemann-Jennert is a qualified librarian and has been a member of the Schwerin state parliament since 2006.

She no longer wanted to run for the election in autumn 2021.

For its state parliament mandate, the CDU must now also find someone to replace it by the autumn election.

Strenz collapsed on the plane on the return flight from Cuba to Germany on Sunday.

Despite an emergency landing in Ireland, her life could no longer be saved.
