The first insurrection to have been massively photographed, the Paris Commune (March 18 - May 28, 1871) is celebrating its 150th anniversary.

Completed in a bloodbath, the last revolution of the 19th century remains the symbol of a tragic popular history.

The barricades erected in Paris by the insurgents to protect themselves from the Versailles forces of Adolphe Thiers continue to convey the image of the struggle.
