Banksy's'faceless street painter' depicting a boy playing with a female nurse doll in a superhero cape was sold for £14.4 million (approximately 22.4 billion won).

The painting, titled'Game Changer', was sold at Christie's auction at the highest price among Banksy's works, Reuters reported on the 23rd (local time).

That's well above the original estimate of £2.5m to £3.5m.

Including the commission, the buyer paid £16.8 million.

Among Banksy's previous works, the Devolved Parliament, which criticized British politics during the Brexit process and described congressmen as chimpanzees, was the highest priced at £9.9 million.

'Game Changer' is a black and white work with a size of 1m in width and height, and the appearance of a child playing with a nurse doll with Superman and Batman in a basket is evaluated as expressing the heroic appearance of medical staff fighting Corona 19.

Banksy donated this painting to a hospital in Southampton, England in May last year with a memo stating "Thank you to all of you, although this work is black and white, it would be nice to brighten up the hospital a little."

Christie says the proceeds will be used to improve the well-being of Southampton Hospital staff and patients.

The day of the auction is also a year since the UK announced its first blockade of Corona 19.
