The Khachaturian sisters, accused of the murder of their father, were recognized as victims in a recently opened criminal case against him.

This was told by the lawyer of one of the sisters, Angelina, Alexei Parshin.

“Today, all the girls were officially acquainted with the decision to initiate a criminal case.

They were recognized as victims, ”he told RIA Novosti.

It became known on March 11 that the Investigative Committee opened a case against Mikhail Khachaturian.

We are talking about three articles: "Sexual assault", "Sexual coercion" and "Torture".

In a conversation with TASS, Parshin explained that the assignment of the status of victims to girls gives hope for the termination of criminal prosecution against them for the murder of a man.

The defense attorney specified that now a full-fledged preliminary investigation is required in the case of Mikhail Khachaturyan, during which the investigation will collect evidence of his committing crimes.

After that, the case will be sent to court.

“If the criminal case against Mikhail goes to court, and the court finds him guilty of committing all crimes against girls, then we will receive another, already irrefutable proof that the Khachaturian sisters were in a state of necessary defense,” explained lawyer Alexei Liptser.

In early March, in a conversation with RT, Liptser said that at the end of 2019, before the first return of the case for further investigation by the prosecutor's office, the examinations carried out in the case established serious harm to the health of three girls as a result of crimes committed against them by their father.

Let us remind you that the case against Mikhail Khachaturian was opened with the permission of his relatives, who thus intend to achieve his rehabilitation.

“We ourselves initiated the cancellation of the decision to refuse to initiate proceedings on the fact of sexual violence,” Olga Khalikova, a lawyer for relatives, told RT.

The case of the Khachaturian sisters

On July 27, 2018, the body of 57-year-old Mikhail Khachaturyan with multiple stab wounds was found in the stairwell of a residential building in Moscow.

On suspicion of murder, the police detained three of his daughters: at that time 19-year-old Krestina, 18-year-old Angelina and 17-year-old Maria.

According to the investigation, the girls, "acting by prior agreement," stabbed him multiple times with a knife and hammer.

The investigation also decided that the sisters were motivated by personal hostility, since their father had caused them "physical and mental suffering" for a long time.

In 2019, the sisters were charged under the article "Murder by a group of persons by prior conspiracy."

At the same time, the girls' lawyers insist that their actions should be regarded as self-defense.

The investigation into the case of the Khachaturian sisters caused a wide public outcry.

Lawyers for the sisters in an interview with RT said that the girls' father established "humiliating and cruel" rules in the house, in particular, beat their daughters for not observing any rule, and also sometimes shot them with pneumatic weapons.

In addition, since 2015, Mikhail began to use sexual violence against his daughters (at that time the sisters were 14, 15 and 16 years old), the defenders said.

“He had several diagnoses.

One of them is sexual preference disorder.

This explains his craving for pedophilia and incest.

The attending doctors described him as arrogant, emotionally unstable, conflicted, mentally unstable, deceitful and inclined to fantasize for their own purposes, ”the lawyers said in a conversation with RT.

According to lawyers, without the permission of their father, the girls were forbidden to leave the apartment, even go to school.

Khachaturian installed a camera next to the door to monitor each step of the daughters.

During the investigation of the case, the Investigative Committee confirmed the fact of sexual abuse by the father.

In turn, the relatives of the deceased denied the fact of abuse in the family, and said that Mikhail was a strict father who wanted to raise "normal, decent girls" out of them.

After the arrest, the sisters spent some time in a pre-trial detention center.

Later, they changed the measure of restraint to "a ban on certain actions", including a ban on communication with each other and access to the Internet.

At the same time, the youngest of the sisters, Maria, was declared insane by the court.
