Thousands of people cheered as the casket, draped in the colors of Tanzania, passed through until it arrived at Jamhuri Stadium.

The remains were deposited in front of thousands of people gathered in the stands without any barrier measure.

John Magufuli was one of Africa's fiercest Corona-skeptics.

The opposition claims that he died of Covid-19 even though he officially succumbed to heart disease.

Congolese Félix Tshisékédi described John Magufuli as a true defender of the African cause.

South African Cyril Ramaphosa has described a corruption fighter and champion of African traditions.

Mozambican Filipe Nyusi promised he would stay in the hearts of the people.

the new Tanzanian president

, Samia Suluhu Hassan, she saluted the memory of a believing man, ardent defender of the poor.

A protector, a parent and an honest man.

She added that she was now the head of the country.

John Magufuli's remains will be on display today in Mwanza in the north, before his burial at the weekend in Chato, his hometown.
