Erfurt (dpa / th) - The Erfurt CDU politician Christina Nordt accepts the Bundestag mandate from the resigned MP Mark Hauptmann (CDU).

"I will do my best to counteract the impression that politics has sometimes given in the past few days with diligence and honesty," said Nordt, according to a message distributed by the Thuringian CDU on Monday.

The 39-year-old moves up to the Bundestag via the CDU state list.

Hauptmann had withdrawn from politics after he was criticized and under pressure in media reports for lobbying allegations.

It later became known that he had also sold masks from a German company to districts, among others.

The Bundestag administration is currently checking whether a donation from this company to the CDU district association, whose chairman was a captain, was legal.
