Kleinsendelbach (dpa / lby) - A man is said to have killed his nine-year-old son in Upper Franconia.

The 50-year-old's arrest warrant was issued on Monday for urgent suspicion of murder, as announced by the Upper Franconian Police Headquarters and the Bamberg Public Prosecutor's Office.

The boy was found dead on Sunday evening in Kleinsendelbach in Upper Franconia (Forchheim district).

The separated wife wanted to pick up the boy in the early evening after he had spent the weekend with the father.

When the boy's father opened the door for the woman with a kitchen knife in hand, the woman became afraid for her son and called the police.

Officials from several strips entered the house and found the lifeless boy.

According to previous knowledge, the nine-year-old had been dead for several hours. A forensic medical examination revealed that the child had died as a result of violence.

The mother was reportedly cared for by an employee of a crisis intervention team.
