ADHD drugs have become increasingly common in the illegal drug market, according to a report by the National Board of Health and Welfare that came a couple of years ago.

Tobias Eriksson, chief physician at the addiction clinic at the University Hospital, explains that the drug is used as a study drug.

- Young people use this type of preparation to improve their capacity in study situations.

I get worried when using something that is so potent and can have side effects.

They may have problems with blood pressure, psychotic experiences and sleep.

The police seize thousands of tablets every year

Police seizures of ADHD medications have increased from around 150 tablets a year in the early 2000s to about 7,000 tablets a year, according to the National Board of Health and Welfare.

The report also shows that a large part of the drugs that are sold illegally come from healthcare, probably via patients who have been prescribed it and then resold.

- I have received it from close friends who have ADHD who get it printed.

It is very easy to get hold of, says Astrid, who is actually called something else.
