In Skåne, you currently need either an agent who collects a covid test from a pharmacy or have a car that you can drive to one of the region's self-testing stations.

At the station at Skeppsbron in Malmö, employees say that they have several times had to reject cyclists who have come to test themselves.

- Rigging sampling sites for pedestrians and cyclists requires more for it to be infection-proof than if everyone comes by car, says Region Skåne's press secretary Maria Wogensen.

The right equipment

- The entire test stations and the entire logistics are set up to get there by car, says Region Skåne's infection control doctor Eva Melander.

This means that the equipment and facilities required for testing in other ways are not yet in place in Skåne.

- To take the self-test on site, a mirror, unloading area for instruction, spittoon and test tube are required.

This is found in a car, but not on a bicycle, says Maria Wogensen.

Awaiting FHM

In nine regions in Sweden, it is nevertheless already possible to take the bike or walk for your self-test, even if Norrbotten advises against it.

This week, it is believed that there will be national guidelines from the Public Health Agency that will ensure infection safety in the testing and, according to the region, make it possible for Skåne to also allow other means of transport than cars.

- Hopefully the testing can be in place in a few weeks, says Maria Wogensen.
