Kassel (dpa) - After the demonstration against corona conditions with more than 20,000 people in Kassel and the criticism of the police, the follow-up of the operation is ongoing.

During the course of the day, a spokesman for the police headquarters in Kassel announced on Monday morning that there would be more specific comments "from a suitable point".

During the protest on Saturday, the court-confirmed conditions had been severely disregarded in some cases, and many participants did not adhere to wearing mouth and nose protection.

After the operation, the police were criticized for their reluctance to act.

The police leadership had defended their approach.

The waiver of coercion and persecution measures was necessary and appropriate.

According to the spokesman for the police headquarters, the follow-up should also be about how the police dealt with counter-demonstrators - there was also criticism of this.

According to the decision of the Hessian Administrative Court (VGH), demonstrations were only allowed on Saturday at the Schwanenwiese exhibition center with up to 5000 participants and the adjacent German Unity Square with a maximum of 1000 people.

The city of Kassel had initially banned the meetings due to the recent increase in the number of corona infections.
