Erfurt (dpa / th) - The Thuringian Aufbaubank (Tab) received more funding applications than ever before.

"It was a very challenging twelve months for all of us," said Tab CEO Matthias Wierlacher on Monday in Erfurt.

According to the Thüringer Aufbaubank, around 100,000 applications have been processed since the end of March 2020, significantly more than in an average year (4000 to 5000 applications).

Around 424 million euros in corona aid have been approved and most of them have also been paid out.

At 304 million euros, most of the corona aid comes from federal funds.

All in all, 1.1 billion euros in economic aid went to Thuringia's economy and municipalities in the last 12 months.

Since it was founded in 1992, the Thüringer Aufbaubank has supported and promoted more than 50,000 small and medium-sized companies and communities.
