The Kremlin said today, Monday, that US actions have no cause and cannot be predicted, and are keeping Russia on a constant state of alert.

Simultaneously, the Russian Foreign Ministry today expressed its regret over Washington's refusal to hold talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Joe Biden.

The new Russian statements come after diplomatic tension between the United States and Russia following statements by Biden in which he described Putin as a murderer and promised to pay the price for his supposed interference in the recent US elections, and in response to these statements, Moscow summoned its ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, for consultations.

Antonov arrived today at the Russian Foreign Ministry building in Moscow, and it is expected that Antonov will hold consultations with several Russian parties.

Parallel to the Kremlin’s statements, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister stated that relations between Russia and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) are at their lowest level since the Cold War, and that virtually all contacts have stopped.

Imposing the American will

For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said today that the United States and its allied countries seek to impose their will everywhere and obstruct the formation of a multi-polar democratic world, denouncing the US sanctions against his country.

Lavrov added, in statements to Chinese media, as part of an official visit to Beijing, that the policy of holding countries accountable through sanctions is useless.

Sputnik reported that the Russian minister will meet with official officials.

Concurrent with the start of Lavrov's visit, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chun Yin said that the United States frequently interferes in the internal affairs of other countries under the banner of democracy and causes many problems in the world.

During a press conference, Hua added that China and Russia have become the mainstay of peace and stability in the world.
