  Academician Peng Shilu is one of the pioneers and founders of China’s nuclear power field. He was the first chief designer of China’s nuclear submarine. He presided over the design and construction of China’s first nuclear submarine model reactor, successfully developed the first nuclear submarine, and organized the introduction of the first nuclear submarine. He has made great contributions to millions of kilowatt-level nuclear power plants, and commanded independent design and construction of the first large-scale commercial nuclear power plant. He has successively won the special prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award (the first person to complete), the National Science Conference Award, and "Making Outstanding Contributions to National Defense Science and Technology. "Certificate of Honor, He Liang He Li Foundation Science and Technology Progress Award, He Liang He Li Foundation Science and Technology Achievement Award, etc.

  In November 2020, Academician Peng Shilu won the 13th Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award Achievement Award, becoming the eighth scientific scholar to win the award since the award was established in 1996.

  According to official information on the winners, Academician Peng Shilu was born in Haifeng County, Guangdong Province in 1925, and is the second son of Peng Pai, the leader of China's early peasant movement.

In 1929, Peng Shilu, who was only 4 years old, became an orphan and was sent to more than 20 families for foster care.

During his childhood, he was taken to prison twice by the Kuomintang and suffered all kinds of hardships.

  In 1940, Zhou Enlai sent people to find 15-year-old Peng Shilu.

At the end of 1940, Peng Shilu arrived in Yan'an and joined the Communist Party of China in 1945.

In 1951, Peng Shilu passed the examination with excellent results and went to the Department of Chemical Machinery of the Kazan Institute of Chemical Technology in the Soviet Union to study.

  In February 1962, Peng Shilu began to preside over the demonstration of the submarine nuclear power plant and the preliminary development of the main equipment.

In 1965, Peng Shilu bid farewell to his wife and children and stayed anonymous, and participated in the preparation of China's first land-based model reactor test base for submarine nuclear power plants.

In December 1970, China's first torpedo attack nuclear submarine was launched, becoming the fifth country with nuclear submarines after the United States, the Soviet Union, Britain, and France.

In August 1974, China's first nuclear submarine joined the naval battle sequence.

  Academician Peng Shilu is hailed as a pioneer and a pioneer in the field of nuclear power in China.
