The deputy of the PP Diego Movellán has affirmed this Monday in Congress, before the Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, that in United We Can "women only rise in the ranks if they hold on tight to a ponytail", alluding to Pablo Iglesias and comparing to this formation "like the story of Rapunzel".

His words have been branded as macho by the minister and the parliamentarian has withdrawn them.

The incident took place in the Labor, Inclusion, Social Security and Migration Commission of the Lower House, in which the minister has appeared for the first time since the leader of Podemos appointed her as vice president of the Government and as future leader of the United Nations. We can, given that Iglesias will be a candidate for the presidency of the Community of Madrid in the next regional elections on May 4.

"They talk a lot about equality in their party and their own leader has made it clear to us that in there women only rise through the ranks if they hold on tight to a ponytail, which is why you are like Rapunzel's story," said Movellán

Faced with this, the minister has asked the 'popular' deputy "to rectify his words" because "they are inappropriate for this Chamber and show a clear exercise of machismo."

"We women do not deserve that treatment," criticized Yolanda Díaz.

Movellán has agreed to withdraw his words, although he has refused to be a macho, reiterating in his criticism: "He directly accuses me of being a macho, that I have never been and I never will be. I have no problem withdrawing him because we Spaniards know how their party works and their appointments ".

After withdrawing his words, Díaz thanked him "earnestly" because, he added, the Spanish "deserve a better opposition and a better PP."

"I am sure, Mr. Movellán, that he is capable of doing it. We women do not deserve that treatment," he said.
