Meppen (dpa / lni) - SV Meppen has achieved an important home win in the relegation battle of the 3rd football league.

With the 2-1 (1-0) success against the second team of FC Bayern Munich, the Emslanders improved to twelfth place in the table and are now five points ahead of the first relegation rank.

Man of the day was defender Steffen Puttkammer, who scored both goals for Meppen in stoppage time in the first half (45th + 1) and in the 73rd minute.

The ex-HSVer Fiete Arp equalized in the 58th minute with a penalty for the third division champions of the previous season.

In the first half, Meppens goalkeeper Erik Domaschke had saved a penalty from Bayern (41.).
