Munich / Berlin (dpa) - In the debate about possible Easter holidays, Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder calls for a forecast for the number of corona infections by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

When advising the federal and state governments, the infection process must be "anticipated" in two weeks for a decision, said the CSU boss on Sunday in Munich.

According to an estimate by the RKI, the incidence after Easter could be more than 300 nationwide, Söder emphasized.

He recalled that in the past decisions were made based on the daily number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, which is why these had to be revised again afterwards.

Söder emphasized that he could understand that people wanted to go on vacation and he also saw that the debate had changed because of the trip to Mallorca.

In order to maintain the relationship, a test obligation for Mallorca returnees and binding quarantine rules are required in any case.

At the same time, it must be looked at how the RKI assesses the risk of infection for holidays in holiday apartments and holiday homes.

In general, it is important to decide at the conference whether we will make an endless wave out of the third wave, which is strong, or whether we will try to get this wave under control again through consistent corona management, said Söder.

Rushing openings run the risk of getting into an endless loop.

"I know very well that people need signs of hope," said Söder.

For him, too, “it all lies over you like a leaden cloud”.

In addition, a nationwide implementation of the “emergency brake” in regional hotspots is required to break the third wave.

«I am always in favor of flexible solutions.

But if flexibility leads to confusion, then no one is helped because it reduces acceptance again, ”said Söder.

He therefore advocated a regulation that would then be binding for all federal states.

Otherwise, in the end, people felt that they were treated unfairly.
