Münster (dpa / lnw) - Military conscientious objectors from Syria have so far had bad cards in Germany if they want to be recognized as refugees.

You claim to be persecuted as political opponents by the regime in the civil war country.

The North Rhine-Westphalian Higher Administrative Court in Münster is hearing on Monday the case of an asylum seeker from Frechen who escaped military service in Syria.

He has so far been refused status by the Federal Office for Refugees.

The OVG has followed this line in recent years.

The European Court of Justice (ECJ) criticized this view in November 2020 and decided otherwise in a judgment.

The question is whether the OVG will stick to its previous negative attitude.
