Leipzig (AP) - CEO Oliver Mintzlaff sees RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga still a good bit away from record champions Bayern Munich.

"We are far from going so far as to compete permanently and at eye level with Bavaria for the title," said the 45-year-old on Sunday in the Sport1 one-two.

Leipzig, second in the table, can reduce the gap to front runner Munich to one point in a direct duel on April 3.

Mintzlaff is hopeful that the Leipzig team can prevail in two weeks.

«Of course it will be a difficult game.

But it was in the first leg too, and we didn't look too bad there, ”said the club boss.

At the beginning of December, Leipzig played 3: 3 in Munich and was even in the lead twice.

In order to become a permanent challenger to Bayern, RB must not allow themselves to slip up in one season.

"If you really want to play for the championship, you have to win games like those against Mainz and Cologne," emphasized Mintzlaff.

Leipzig had lost in Mainz and, despite their great superiority, only played 0-0 against Cologne.
