African champion Djamel Belmadi, the African champion coach, invited today, Sunday, 3 new players from a squad of 28 players, not including any player from the Algerian League, in preparation for the match against Zambia and Botswana this month in the African Nations Cup qualifiers.

For the first time, Belmadi called up Ahmed Touba, Dutch defender Walvik, Rams Zerrouki, the Dutch midfielder for Twente, and Nouvel, the left-back opponent of Tondela, Portugal.

Belmadi also re-included Rachid Ghazal, Osama Darflo, Hilal Sudani and Mehdi Zafan in the Algerian national team squad.

However, he excluded 7 players who were on the previous list in November, including Yassin Brahimi, Mohamed Reda Halaymia, Andy Delor and Mohamed Salim Fares.

Algeria tops Group H in the qualifiers with 10 points from 4 matches, 5 points behind second-placed Zimbabwe, and has already secured qualification for the finals to be held in Cameroon next year.

Algeria will play Zambia 25 this month, before hosting Botswana 4 days later in the last round of the qualifiers.
