Hanover (dpa / lni) - A graffiti sprayer left his ID card at the crime scene in Hanover.
Witnesses had alerted the police on Sunday night and reported graffiti sprayers to a locomotive shed.
The officers arrested a 29-year-old suspect near the crime scene.
However, this denied any activity in this direction, as the federal police announced on Sunday.
Other alleged perpetrators fled undetected.
When checking the engine shed, the police discovered a train that had been freshly sprayed on an area of around 55 square meters.
According to the police, the 29-year-old left his jacket before the escape - and it was his ID card.
The officers also found a backpack and a bag of paint cans.
The suspect has been noticed by the police several times because of unauthorized spraying.
Another preliminary investigation into property damage was initiated against him.
