Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The Association of Business Associations Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has called on the federal government and the state to take swift decisions to rescue threatened companies and to open important areas before Easter.

The increase in the corona numbers was not to be blamed on retail, tourism or other industries affected by the lockdown, said managing director Sven Müller on Sunday in view of the federal-state summit on Monday.

Incidences also rose where retail outlets have not yet opened.

"The infection drivers still seem to be localized in private."

The companies bear the burden, explained Müller.

They currently have no real perspective and rightly called for the responsibility of the state.

Anyone who is driven into bankruptcy through the corona burden through no fault of their own has a right to fair framework conditions.

"It's about thousands of companies with hundreds of thousands of employees."

The economy in the state is actively participating in the implementation of a nationwide range of rapid test centers, emphasized Müller.

"They offer the chance that retail, tourism, hotels and restaurants as well as all other currently closed businesses can reopen at Easter."
