Stuttgart (dpa) - There was a noticeable earthquake in the Zollernalb district on Sunday evening.

In the evening, the state earthquake service reported an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 with an epicenter in Jungingen around 6:37 p.m. in a first automated report.

About an hour later, a second, lighter earthquake with a magnitude of 1.8 followed with an epicenter in Hechingen.

The first quake was also noticeable in the districts of Tübingen and Reutlingen, said the Reutlingen police.

So far, no damage has been reported to the police headquarters.

It was also felt briefly in Ulm, 75 kilometers away, wrote the "Südwest Presse".

Smaller earthquakes are not uncommon in Baden-Württemberg.

For example, on December 1 of last year there was a 3.9 magnitude quake in the same region.

At that time, the earthquake service had received around 6,000 reports.

"3.9 is a moderately strong earthquake," said Stefan Stange from the state earthquake service in December.

Slight damage such as cracks in the plaster cannot be ruled out.

Structural damage such as wall cracks are to be expected around a magnitude of 5.0.
