Losheim (dpa / lrs) - A drunk 20-year-old was in Losheim (Merzig-Wadern district) with a tractor on a chase with a patrol car.

The driver did not react to the stopping signals from the police and continued his journey, the police said on Sunday.

The officers stopped him a short time later and no one was injured.

The tractor comes from a farm where the 20-year-old is employed.

He took the key illegally on Saturday night, drove the tractor to his godmother in Losheim and honked the horn.

The godmother then informed the police and reported that the 20-year-old was "under the influence of alcohol and in a psychological state of emergency" on the road with the tractor.

A patrol spotted the eight-ton vehicle shortly afterwards.

According to the police, investigative proceedings were initiated against the 20-year-old for drunk driving and unauthorized use of vehicles.

A blood sample was taken from him.

In addition, he is said to have damaged a parked car on his way, which is why the police are investigating the man for having escaped an accident.
