Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The coastal states of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony want to enable their citizens to have low-contact Easter holidays in their own country.

The heads of government Manuela Schwesig (SPD), Daniel Günther (CDU) and Stephan Weil (SPD) want to advertise at the federal-state summit on Monday, as the state chancelleries announced on Sunday.

Accordingly, vacation should only be allowed within one's own federal state in institutions with self-sufficiency and their own sanitary facilities.

This would apply to vacation rentals, holiday homes, campers and RVs.

A negative PoC antigen test should be required shortly before arrival.

"Further conditions such as hygiene concepts and capacity restrictions would have to be met at the state level," it said.

And for the neighboring city-states of Hamburg and Bremen “separate regulations would have to be made”.

Many people very much wanted a short vacation in Germany, which was not possible under the current regulations.

The decision of the federal government to open Mallorca for holiday trips over Easter, among other things, meets with incomprehension among many citizens against this background.

On the other hand, there has been a sharp increase in the number of infections, which requires particular caution.

"We are of the opinion that at Easter holidays in our own state should at least be possible," said Prime Minister Schwesig.

"For example, anyone who drives from Rostock to Rügen and spends the Easter days in a holiday home with their family is not exposed to any additional risk of infection."

At the same time, it is a signal to the industry that the countries want to ramp up tourism step by step.

"In view of the increasing corona numbers, this is not yet complete," said Schwesig.

“Then the industry needs additional support.

This is what we stand for together. "

Meanwhile, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants has increased further within seven days in the northeast to 73.3.

A week ago the value was 63.8.

After the Ludwigslust-Parchim district with 115.2, Vorpommern-Greifswald also slipped above the critical 100 mark with 100.2 after a strong increase of 17.9.
