March 21, 2021 The European commissioner in charge of the vaccine campaign, Thierry Breton, said tonight on the TF1 news bulletin in France that Europe will not need the Russian vaccine: "Priority to vaccines manufactured on European territory", underlined the commissioner EU.

"We will absolutely not need the Sputnik V vaccine. The Russians have great difficulty producing it and we will help them in the second half if they need it," he added.

"

Immunity target in Europe in June"

Breton then said that "Europe is now the continent that produces more vaccines" and that "the delay in the vaccination campaign, compared to the US and Great Britain", is "only 3 weeks".

"The vaccines will not be lacking, they will be ready and very quickly".

"The goal - underlined Breton - is immunity for Europe by June".

He then specified a "symbolic date like 14 July", the French national holiday: "That day Europe will have achieved immunity".
