Berlin (dpa) - Hertha BSC landed a major blow in the relegation battle of the Bundesliga and aggravated the precarious situation of coach Peter Bosz at Bayer Leverkusen.

Deyovaisio Zeefuik (4th minute), Matheus Cunha (26th) and Jhon Cordoba (33rd) ensured an unexpectedly clear 3-0 (3-0) success for Berlin with their goals in the Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

While coach Pal Dardai's team climbed three places to 14th place thanks to the victory from the relegation zone, the future of Dutchman Bosz is uncertain at Bayer after the tenth competitive defeat this year.

After the 2-1 defeat against Arminia Bielefeld, the Werkself made a very disappointing performance for the second time in a row against a Bundesliga basement team and after the biggest defeat of the season in sixth place increasingly loses sight of the Champions League places given as a goal.

Hertha won two home games in a row for the first time this season after beating Augsburg 2-1 and after the international break they can play with more confidence in the Berlin derby on Easter Sunday at 1. FC Union.

But the Berliners could hardly have gone on the lawn with a worse feeling.

Shortly before, they had slipped to 17th place due to Mainz 05's 2-1 win at TSG Hoffenheim.

First of all, they were at least virtually in a direct relegation zone.

The mood changed quickly.

The Dutch Zeefuik, who was looking for form for a long time, slipped the ball into the far corner.

Again Bayer conceded an early goal, but that was exactly what Bosz wanted to prevent.

Bayer took the initiative.

Center forward Patrik Schick (11th / 14th) missed two good header opportunities frivolously.

And what about Hertha?

It showed the consistency that Dardai had long missed.

Matheus Cunha completed a remarkable counterattack in the first mission after a three-week injury break to make it 2-0.

The Brazilian scored again for the first time in exactly four months.

For more than 1000 minutes of play, Berlin's top scorer had been without any success.

Leverkusen had significantly more possession of the ball, but still seemed passive and disoriented.

And it got worse because the next counterattack was also on.

Cordoba seemed to have already lost the big chance, but the Colombian duped national defender Jonathan Tah again with a twist.

Leverkusen had not been behind at half-time for almost four years.

Bosz sat on the bench for some time after the break whistle.

In the second half he brought two fresh offensive forces in Lucas Alario and Nadiem Amiri.

But Hertha remained dangerous.

A goal from Dodi Lukebakio (50th) just didn't count because Cordoba had previously jumped the ball to the upper arm.

A little later, Hertha goalkeeper Rune Jarstein parried brilliantly against Schick from close range.

A header from the Czech also went over.

Leverkusen showed far too little to bring Hertha into trouble.

Matheus Cunha and Lukebakio with a double chance and substitute Krzysztof Piatek with a counterattack (87th) gave an even clearer victory.
