At the beginning of the pandemic, the assistant nurse Therése Mechlenburg, who usually worked in day surgery, faced completely new challenges when she was placed in the then new ward D IVA, which was formed due to covid-19.

One year after the first case, Mechlenburg has instead begun to return to normal.

She works in day surgery and some evenings at IVA to help with covid-19 patients.

- We have been doing this since the beginning of November, so I do not think about it much anymore.

I work at the day surgery and I work at IVA, it both works, says Therése Mechlenburg.

More manageable

According to Therése Mechlenburg, the second wave has been more manageable at Vrinnevis Hospital in Norrköping than the first wave was in the spring of 2020. Among other things, they did not have to open up D IVA again, but it has been possible to receive covid-19 patients to IVA.

- I experience it as if there has been a pretty good atmosphere among the staff and not at all the same hectic period as it was last spring when we were just thrown into it, says Therése Mechlenburg.
