“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the citizens of the United States who have sent letters to the Embassy in support of the development of friendly relations between Russia and the United States.

Many expressed disagreement and apologized for the rash statements made recently from Washington to Russia, ”Antonov said in a statement on the embassy's Facebook page.

The ambassador noted that he was touched by the position of the US citizens, who understand that the dialogue between the countries must be built on the basis of mutual respect.

According to him, such an approach of American citizens testifies to the potential for normalization between the Russian and American peoples.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden said he would hold new talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin "at some stage."

Prior to that, Putin commented on the statement of Biden, who answered affirmatively to the provocative question of the journalist whether he considers the Russian leader a "killer".

The Russian president wished his American colleague good health.
