China News Service, Toronto, March 20. In response to the US Chargé d’Affaires in Canada, Brooke recently issued a statement on China’s handling of Canadian citizens’ Kang Mingkai and Michael’s cases according to law, the spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in Canada rejected the statement on March 20, stating that the Chinese side Resolutely oppose his remarks.

The embassy spokesperson reiterated that Kang Mingkai and Michael were arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law on suspicion of crimes endangering China's national security.

The Chinese judicial organs handle cases independently and strictly in accordance with the law, and fully protect the legal rights of the two including consular visits.

China's judicial sovereignty does not allow interference.

The spokesperson pointed out that the United States has openly fabricated the Meng Wanzhou incident in order to suppress China's high-tech enterprises.

At the request of the United States, the Canadian government detained Ms. Meng for more than two years without violating any Canadian laws. This is a total arbitrary detention.

"This is a serious political incident. The United States is the culprit and Canada is an accomplice. The international community sees this clearly."

The spokesperson urged the US to reflect on its own mistakes, put away its hypocritical performances, and immediately stop its hegemonic acts of interfering with China's judicial sovereignty.
