Walsrode (dpa / lni) - The Walsrode World Bird Park has reopened its doors after a four and a half month winter break.

Many families with children already took advantage of the offer on Saturday.

In the 24 hectare park landscape in the Heidekreis there is currently room for up to 2000 visitors due to the corona.

Zoo keepers were out and about with selected birds in the park, which is home to a total of 4,000 birds from around 650 species.

After a delayed start in the previous year, the operators are now hoping for the 2021 season. In order to guarantee admission, there is an online ticket booking.

The park plans for 250,000 to 300,000 visitors in 2021.

Because the wild bird park was closed on public holidays such as Easter and May 1st last year due to the lockdown, twenty percent fewer came than expected.
