Second wave of Covid-19 in Madagascar: the president speaks on national television

President Rajoelina spoke on national television and radio on Saturday March 20.

The country, which has been facing a second wave of contamination in recent weeks, has recorded a total of 22,275 cases of coronavirus, including 345 deaths.

A second wave amplified by the presence of the South African variant, said the head of state.

During his intervention, the Head of State notably tried to respond to criticisms and questions concerning the lack of access to vaccination against the coronavirus in the country.

, declared Andry Rajoelina, presenting to the camera a box of CVO +, the Malagasy capsule produced from the active principle of traditional plants.

To justify this reservation, the latter also highlights the insufficiency or absence of refrigeration in certain areas of the country to store vaccines.

The latter stressed that he will consult the Academy of Medicine regarding the vaccine that could be suitable for Madagascar.

For the time being, the Head of State prefers to

bet on CVO,

the Madagascan artemisia-based decoction, supposed to prevent and cure Covid-19.

It will be distributed to the population in the four regions most affected by the coronavirus: Analamanga where the capital is located, Atsinanana, Boeny and Diana.

From Monday, all healthcare personnel, soldiers and coronavirus patients will receive the capsule version, the CVO +.

To fight against this second wave, Andry Rajoelina ruled out confinement but asked for the respect of barrier gestures, the wearing of masks and banned meetings of more than 200 people.

Sporting events must be held behind closed doors and in the open air and funerals are limited to ten people if the death is due to Covid-19.

In the northwest of the country, the borders of the island of Nosy Be and the city of Majunga, which are experiencing a sharp increase in cases, are closed for 15 days
