Magdeburg / Dresden (dpa) - Saxony is delivering 10,000 doses of its additional vaccine to combat the corona pandemic to Saxony-Anhalt.

Minister-Presidents Michael Kretschmer and Reiner Haseloff (both CDU) agreed on this on Saturday after the federal and state vaccination summit, said a government spokesman in Magdeburg.

It was agreed that 10,000 of the 100,000 doses intended for Saxony go to the Burgenland district, where the infection rate is particularly high.

It is about Central German solidarity in the fight against the pandemic.

The Burgenland district with a seven-day incidence of almost 200 borders on Saxony and Thuringia, both of which have an even higher infection rate than Saxony-Anhalt.

As a result of the vaccination summit on Friday, several federal states with particularly polluted regions or external borders will receive additional vaccine.

In addition to Saxony and Bavaria, this also includes Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate and Thuringia.
