Italy to conduct tests of "Sputnik V" against strains of coronavirus

"In a few days, the first agreement will be concluded with the Spallanzani Institute for scientific testing of the Sputnik V vaccine as part of a study on the effectiveness against varieties of coronavirus," Zingaretti said.

The Governor mentioned pending formal approval from the European Medicines Agency (EMA). 

Earlier, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi said that Rome will be able to make a decision on the admission of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine to the country if a decision is not made at the EMA level.
