Nuremberg (dpa) - The illegal trade in puppies is increasing.

A few days ago, 101 small dogs were found in a transporter in Nuremberg, and they are currently being fostered at the animal shelter.

Findings of illegally traded puppies are repeatedly reported from all over Germany.

The background: In the Corona crisis, many people bought a dog.

According to the German Animal Welfare Association, dubious offers have increased significantly as a result.

According to an evaluation by animal rights activists, the number of illegally traded dogs more than doubled last year compared to 2019.

Around 1000 such dogs were discovered in 2020.

But the number of unreported cases is much higher, according to the Animal Welfare Association.
