With the identities of four Korean women who died in the shootings and one of them as Korean nationals, US President Biden interviewed Asian leaders and urged the American people to speak out and act on hatred and violence.

President Biden, who visited Atlanta after three days of shooting, said in a speech at Emory University, "I met Asian leaders, and when I heard the story, I broke my heart."

"Too many Asian Americans have been attacked, criticized, attacked and killed," said US President Biden, and stressed that Asian women in particular suffer more.

"Hate and violence hide in sight and often meet with silence," he said. "We have to speak out and act."

US Vice President Harris also stressed that "The President and I will not be silent and will always speak out against violence, hate crimes and discrimination."

Prior to his speech, US President Biden met privately with Asian leaders to hear about discrimination and violence against Asian Americans.

Earlier, on the 16th, a series of shootings occurred in three places, including massage shops and spas in Atlanta and suburbs, killing eight people, including four Korean women and six Asian people.
