About 92,000 dead

New hospitalizations have also fallen: 1,348 in the last 24 hours, against 1,661 on Thursday.

There are now 25,537 patients with Covid in French hospitals, against 25,389 on Thursday.

The disease took 185 people to hospital in 24 hours (up from 274 Thursday), bringing the total number of deaths to some 92,000 since the outbreak began more than a year ago.

The indicators had not been published Friday because of a technical incident, according to the health agency.

A third of the French (16 departments, including the entire Ile-de-France) have been subject to new restrictions since Saturday, but it remains to be seen whether these measures will be enough to slow the progression of the virus.
