Dresden / Berlin (dpa / sn) - The rate of new corona infections continues to rise in Saxony.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) put the incidence in the Free State at 133.8 on Saturday.

The previous day the value was 127.1.

It indicates how many per 100,000 inhabitants have been proven to have been infected with the coronavirus within a week.

Nationwide, the value on Saturday was 99.9.

Of the 13 regions in Saxony, only three are below the 100 limit, which the federal and state governments had defined as a critical mark.

These are the district of Bautzen with 95.7 and the two large cities Dresden (89.3) and Leipzig (81.3).

But there, too, the trend has been increasing in the past few days.

The number of corona deaths rose by 12 to 8198 since the start of the pandemic.

Corona hotspot in Saxony remains the Vogtland.

The incidence value of 325.7 was, however, lower than the previous day's value of 358.9.

After the resumption of vaccinations with the Astrazeneca vaccine, people in the Vogtland should be given preference.

The strict sequence of vaccinations according to priority groups was lifted there.
