Munich (AP) - Leader of the table, Bayern Munich, led by his scorer phenomenon Robert Lewandowski, ignited the offensive turbo in the successful preparation for the Bundesliga summit in Leipzig.

After the mighty 4-0 (4-0) on Saturday against a defensively overwhelmed VfB Stuttgart, the German soccer series champion is four points ahead of pursuers and title rivals RB Leipzig in the direct duel after the international break.

After the early red card for defender Alphonso Davies (12th minute), the Munich team turned their 40th win in the 50th Bundesliga game of coach Hansi Flick and beat Lewandowski (17th / 23rd / 39th) and Serge Gnabry (22. ) mercilessly too.

Lewandowski increased his season yield to 35 hits with the three-pack.

The 32-year-old Pole exceeded his previous record of 34 goals from the previous season.

The 40-goal record set by Gerd Müller in 1972 is very close for Lewandowski.

The world footballer could even have scored goal number 36, yes should have.

But after a precise submission by Benjamin Pavard, he awarded free-standing (63.).

The ball slipped Lewandowski over the instep.

He's just a human and not a machine.

After 70 minutes, Flick ended Lewandowski's working day prematurely.

The so far so strong climber from Stuttgart paid hardship in the Allianz Arena.

The Swabians began to pursue their 750th Bundesliga victory with 18-year-old debutant Naouirou Ahamada in midfield.

The guests determined the first few minutes.

And after a violent kick by Davies on the foot of Wataru Endo, referee Daniel Schlager pulled out red after a hint from the video assistant and his own observation of the scene. Initially, the Bayern defender had only received a yellow card.

In Leipzig, alongside Davies, Jérôme Boateng (5th yellow) will be suspended.

Shortly afterwards, Sasa Kalajdzic missed a great header chance for the Swabians in the majority.

The dismissal was more like a wake-up call for Bayern, who had to play in their 1900th Bundesliga game without Joshua Kimmich, who had a cold.

Flick called the waiver of the ailing national player "more sensible".

David Alaba, who had moved into midfield alongside Leon Goretzka for Kimmich, had to take over from Davies on the left back early on.

Three goals were scored within six minutes and the game was decided.

Gnabry served Lewandowski - 1-0.

Thomas Müller and Leroy Sané conjured up a combination that Gnabry completed - 2-0.

And after Müller's flank Lewandowski was able to head unrestricted - 3-0.

The VfB defense acted totally confused.

Waldemar Anton in particular was completely beside himself in the defense center, which Lewandowski punished again with his 4-0.

In addition to the clear break after the break, the Stuttgart team also suffered an injury to Wamangituka, who hobbled into the cabin after a duel with Alaba.

That didn't look good.

Even after the break, the guests tried to correct their results and played forward - but unsuccessfully.

The Bavarian attacks, often now as a counterattack, were mostly more dangerous.

But in the end they were no longer so consistent, otherwise it would have been a really great shooting festival.
