▲ Earthquake in the Tohoku region of Japan


A strong earthquake of 7.2 on the Richter scale occurred in the Tohoku region of Japan.



According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the earthquake occurred in the waters off Miyagi Prefecture around 6:10 pm local time today (20th).



The depth of the epicenter was 60 km under the sea, and it is reported that the earthquake has observed shaking of the Jindo River 5 in some areas of Miyagi Prefecture.



In some areas of Fukushima Prefecture and Iwate Prefecture, a shaking intensity of about 5 was observed, and in some areas of Saitama Prefecture and Chiba Prefecture, a shaking intensity of 4 was observed.



In the city center of Tokyo, the capital city, a tremor of magnitude 3 was observed.



Seismic intensity is an indicator of the relative strength of earthquake-induced shaking in a particular location, and is different from the Richter scale, which indicates the absolute energy magnitude of an earthquake.



Due to this earthquake, a tsunami, or tsunami advisory, has been issued.
